Until the 19th century, large amethyst deposits were unknown. The stone commanded prices equal to ruby and sapphire. Siberian amethysts were the most prized of all.

The Ambassador sits on Upper Peach Street — Erie’s shopping, dining and family-fun corridor, minutes off I-90.
Hotels attached to the venue, plenty of parking, and Lake Erie twenty minutes up the road. Come for the show, stay for the weekend.
Shop & Dine
Millcreek Mall and the Upper Peach Street corridor are a few minutes up the road with restaurants in every direction — and Quaker Steak & Lube is right next door at Splash Lagoon.
Family Fun
Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park is next door on Peach Street. The expERIEnce Children’s Museum and the Erie Zoo are a short drive toward downtown.
Lake & Nature
Presque Isle State Park — seven miles of Lake Erie beaches and trails — is about 20 minutes away, with the Tom Ridge Environmental Center at its gate and the Erie Maritime Museum downtown.
